Pumpkin Carving

Last night was one of those rare nights when everyone was home.  No out of town travel for work, no dance class and no sports practices.  So, we enjoyed dinner together, pumpkin carving and watching the final game of the World Series.  We sure were bummed that the Royals lost.

The kids got to enjoy a fun and super easy dessert after dinner.

After dinner and homework were finished, we got to work on the pumpkins.  The kids each chose their designs.  Here are the final products.

And Allie with her scary castle pumpkin.  Bless her.  Mama helped her.  Let's just say I won't be quitting my day job anytime soon to be a professional pumpkin carver!

I just love these traditions and memories we are making with these sweet kiddos!

Mummy Juice

Allie's preschool Halloween Party is today, and we signed up to bring juice boxes.  Of course, plain old juice boxes just wouldn't do!

With these simple supplies, we transformed regular apple juice into Mummy Juice.

So simple, but so fun!

Gentry's Farm

Each fall we try to take the kiddos to a local farm that opens its doors for family fun, Gentry's Farm.  Unfortunately, this year we didn't make it as a family; but Allie and I were able to meet up with some friends earlier this week to take it all in.

How tall?  It helps if you stand on your tippy toes.

Football

We just wrapped up the boys' football season this past weekend.  This year was the first time that Hayden and Kyle were able to play on the same team.  For any sport.  Ever.  They are only 2 years apart in age, but it is just enough of a difference when qualifying for sports leagues.  It made for a special season that these boys could be teammates.  This won't happen again until high school.

This was the day before their first game back in September.  They were allowed to wear their game day jerseys to school each Friday.  I think this might be the REAL reason they wanted to play football!

 This is after their first game.  Best buddies J and L are also brothers who haven't played on a team together before this season.  While Kyle and L play lots of sports together and Hayden and J do, too; it truly was a special time for all 4 boys to be together.  And it made carpooling to and from practices easier on the moms!

After Kyle broke his toe, he became the sidelines entertainment.  Thankfully, he only missed 2 games.

This little cutie was there for every game cheering her brothers on to victory.

And with that, we have already moved on to basketball practice this week.  No rest for the weary!

BOO'ZED!

Around here, it is common for our kids to get BOO'D each Halloween season.  Friends leave a bag of treats on the front porch, ring the doorbell and run like crazy so they don't get caught.  Our little ones enjoy their goodies, and then we do the same to 2 other neighbors.

This year, I decided it was high time that the moms got in on the Halloween fun, too.  There was some BOO'ZING going on in our neighborhood!

A little bottle of wine and a cute glass make a fun "happy" for some sweet friends!

Kyle - Jr. Docent at the Hermitage

One of the field trips for 4th grade at the boys' school is to go to the home of our 7th President Andrew Jackson, The Hermitage.  The students are Jr. Docents for the day and each have a station to man and a script to recite for the visitors that day.  Kyle's class went a few days before we left for Disney and before his cast incident.  

His station was at the Smoke House.  He did an awesome job!

Our Cast Member

No, I'm not talking about a Disney Cast Member.  We have our very first Cast Member in the family right here.

Kyle broke his big toe on Sunday night running outside without his shoes on.  He stumbled running from the grass to the pavement and broke it in the process.  He kept playing with his buddies for a while, but by the time he came inside for the night it was pretty swollen.  The next day he went to the doctor, had x-rays and then saw the orthopedist.  He was such a trooper, and as you can see he was all smiles when it was all said and done.  I knew it would only be a matter of time before we had someone break a bone in our family.  Thankfully, it wasn't anything more serious!

I know best buds do lots of things together, but this is getting a little ridiculous!  Both Kyle and T sporting their casts.  T broke his arm a few weeks ago on a zip-line.
